Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation In Elizabethtown: Police (Developing)

A gas leak has led to an evacuation and traffic being diverted, Lancaster County authorities explained on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6.

The gas leak happened at the intersection of East Bainbridge and South Spruce in Elizabethtown at 2:25 p.m., according to Lancaster County Wide Communications. 

"Residents should avoid the area," Elizabethtown police said in a release at 3:09 p.m. 

A two-block perimeter has been evacuated as a precaution, LCWC explained.

"The Elizabethtown Fire Department and Fire Police, Elizabethtown Police Department, and UGI are already on scene diverting traffic and fixing the leak," the police said, adding that "traffic will be detoured for an estimated 2-3 hours."
